9th Nov 2018:

My photo is on Perpetual Power. Its cleaner, but has flaws such as water being stuck and the different malfunctions that could happen. So what I can do is to do more research and find out more about the topic.

10th Nov 2018:

My photo is on the corals under the microscope. So what I have learned is that when you shine blue light on an object but you wear a red lens glasses, you will not be able to see the blue light but to see its original form in red. But if you shine blue light and wear yellow lens glasses, you will be able to see the respective colours/effects made by the light. So what I would like to do is to do more research on how the society could be improved by making changes using the knowledge that we know so as to improve the life of people.

My photo is the picture of the micropipette with test tubes on the side. So this may look like ordinary biotechnology lab equipment but it brings back the memories of spending 10 weeks with it during the ISS project in the secondary 2 Science curriculum. I would like to spend more time using it as I am going for biotechnology lessons next year in Secondary 3 as part of my chosen applied subject.

My photo is a picture of a coral from the 3D modelling tank. We were taught how to take pictures so that we could put all the photos together so that we can make a 3D diagram of the coral in the tank and the teacher said that we could touch the corals so I went touching the corals and this coral in this picture leaves me a strange impression. It feels soft and if you use too much pressure, it might be damaged and the teacher said that they now that you are touching them so they would excrete out some slimy substance onto the outer layer of themselves. One application is that I could research more on the behaviour of the corals and what other defences they would use to protect themselves.

My photo is a picture of the evolution of a deer-like species evolving into a whale-like species. I found it interesting and learnt from the guide that some animals in the past preferred to go back into the ocean and one example is the deer. So the deer went into the ocean and as they needed to swim, their tail became longer as shown in the second creature from the right. Then they did not use their limbs that often so their limbs became shorter as shown in the third creature from the right. After that, their back limbs turned into tails and lastly, it turned into a whale-like creature. One application is that we could study how some of the present species evolved from the past.

This photo is a picture of the nautilus shell in the specimen collection room. This picture tells us that the shell of the Nautilus is comprised of many individual chambers and each chamber is individually sealed and contains a certain amount of gas. This provides the animal with buoyancy. The Nautilus can regulate its density by injecting or removing fluid into these chambers through a system of tubes so that it can move up and down in the ocean.
