I took a video at pit area we went to earlier and I was taken aback by it as I have not seen such a phenomenon before as it was cool cos it was yknow fire. I got to learn abit about how it works, that there is a leakage of natural gas that seeps through the ground. However I am still unsure of how the natural gas start to catch fire in the first place.  I would like to compare how this natural gas can seep through the ground yet most other natural gases do not. I can apply this in learning more about how natural gas works and possibly relate it to how it is a form of energy for countries like Singapore to use in the form of liquified natural gas.

It was a challenge to snap the exact moment its wings were facing me as the butterfly’s wings were constantly moving. Hence it was quite a satisfying moment that I managed to capture this. Not only that, this picture got me to wonder about the diversity of animal and plant species in the Taiwan.  I would like to find out how different the biodiversity is in Taiwan as compared to Singapore. And because doing it myself maybe too complicated, I can perhaps focus on the difference in a family of animal such as the butterflies.

I chose a picture of one of my group mates during the first lab session. It was when we had to cut off the end of the tentacle and place the remaining part into the 3% NAC.  During the process of cutting the tentacle, some of us were struggling as it was difficult to cleanly and fully separate the two parts of the tentacle. Thus, some tentacles were squished or not in one piece. This activity has made me curious to learn more about the anatomy of this type of corals. Through this activity, I also would like to make sure to have more patience when performing any further minute tasks.

This is a picture of a rocky coral reef that had I took when my group was learning about 3D Photo taking. Before this, I was confused if it was a coral or an anemone. After clarifying it with the guy who taught us, I learnt that it was a rocky coral despite the soft outer layer. It had a hard skeleton made of calcium carbonate which is true in all corals..This made my understanding of corals and anemone much broader. This is also an example of how a simple question can clarify many doubts.

This is a picture of the cylindrical tank that we passed by in the aquarium in the afternoon. We observed that almost all the fish were continuously moving around its aquarium in a clockwise manner. Even with all of us walking around it, they still kept swimming around in circles. I wondered then if fish had the ability to feel dizzy when spinning around in that manner. More importantly, I did not know the reason behind them swimming in the same direction continuously. Now I know that they swim against the current in the water to allow oxygen through its gills more easily. I can apply this to if any further research about fishes behaviour as now I know the reason behind one of the fishes’ behaviour

This is a screenshot of a video i took in the laboratory that contained the transparent dead fish. When i entered this room, I couldn’t stand the smell which reminded me of anchovies. However, after a while, the samples of fish distracted me from the smell as they were interesting to look at. I realised that I have not seen more than half the fish in the laboratory. This had me realise the diversity of fish in the ocean. I was also amazed at the array of colours of fish as there were those of light blue to dark red. This has reminded me to be more open minded in life to remember to not focus only on what I know, but more of what I do not know yet.
